  Club History

They were established in 1898 and accepted into the North Essex League as Manor Works FC, the works team of Crittall Windows. The former Braintree FC had folded over a debt of £6 10s 5d. In 1921 the club changed its name to Crittall Athletic and in 1923 moved to the new stadium in Clockhouse Way, by 1968 the club had changed it's name once again , this time to Braintree & Crittall Athletic, when links with Crittalls ended in 1981 they became Braintree FC, and in 1982 finally the name Braintree Town was adopted.
