Dave Gilroy
Dave signed a two-year contract with City in May 2007 from Southern League side Chippenham Town. It would be the Yeovil-born player's second spell with City having spent a short loan period from Bristol Rovers during the last months of the 2001-02 season, where he made five appearances, scoring two goals. He had been with Rovers as a trainee but only made a handful of starts for the Pirates. He also spent a loan spell at Forest Green Rovers at the start of the 2003-04 season before leaving permantly to join Weston Super Mare in December 2003, where he scored on his debut against Merthyr Tydfil on New Years Day. He spent two years with the Seagulls then joined Chippenham Town in November 2005. Was immediately a prolific scorer with the Bluebells, finishing the 2005-06 season as joint Southern League top scorer, hitting the net in total 30 times. Added another 22 strikes during the 2006-07 season, which attracted the interest of Conference side Exeter City but, in the end, returned to Twerton Park. After a slow start the goals began to flow and he reached the milestone of 50 in just 98 appearances. He then joined Newport County in May 2009 but failed to secure a regular starting spot with the Exiles and spent a time on loan with Weston Super Mare. Returned to City in a swap loan deal in February 2010 with Stuart Douglas heading across the Severn Bridge.
