Darren Edwards
City's search for a striker to partner Scott Partridge and help fire them to Conference South football finally ended in December 2006 when they signed Darren from Yate Town. Immediately repaid the rumoured £4500 City paid for his services by scoring on his debut against Halesowen Town and went on to net 12 times in 25 appearances during the club's successful title run. After being part of Yate Town's youth set-up, making his first team debut at 17, he moved to Western League side Bristol Manor Farm before joining Mangotsfield United in 1998. Was top scorer at Cossham Street for the next two seasons, but then suffered a series of injuries. Struggled with a niggling back problem throughout the 2001/02 campaign, then a cruciate ligament injury required career saving surgery the following season. Joined Tiverton Town at the start of 2004 but never really settled at Ladymead and was back with Mangotsfield in the September of that year. Darren was soon on the move again a couple of months later when he returned to Yate Town. Scored 38 goals in just 58 appearances for the Bluebirds before switching to Twerton Park. Has now played well over 100 games for City and netted on 32 occasions.
